As well as a new plan (oh yeah… another one) hmmmm I think I’ll call it <gasp> the January Personal Challenge!
So, although I did not meet my personal challenge goals, I did fail forward and will continue.
1 and a Half Down…9 and a Half to go
Update on the December Personal Challenge..
The Low Carb Recipe niche site is ranking and getting traffic. No sales yet but I carry on!
I say one and 1/2 down because I have all the research done, content created, list builder put together, and product ready for niche 2 (@RickButts the niche is Wine Making before you ask..) but haven’t put it all up yet.
I’m running out of time… but I think I’ll kick it in gear in the next 2 days before Christmas get 2 blogs up and running. Then in the days following Christmas I plan to do 1 a day… That should get me to my goal (or at least close to it) and amaze family and friends alike.(right)
One thing I have done to speed up content creation research is to create a “research session” in Flock/Firefox.
Open 3 tabs in your FF/Flock (Google,Wikipedia,EzineArticles) go to tools-session manager-save session. You will need the session manager add-on for Firefox.
Search for your Keyword Phrases, open first 5 results of each in new tabs and write away. Anyway, saves me time.
Wish me luck on my goal or make fun of me for attempting it in the comments below.
December Personal Challenge Update-One Down, Nine to go!

December Personal Challenge
It occurred to me today that I have seriously neglected this blog. Not many people read this blog and really it’s supposed to just keep me on track and motivated so …. dropping all projects so far and getting re-focused.
I came to the realization that I’ve been paralyzed by research. Researching keywords, researching niches, researching content….. So, I’ve decided to set a goal of creating 10 Niche blogs by Jan 1st. Get them ranking and producing income.
In order to focus on my new goal I’m cutting out as many distractions as possible. I’ll be un-following everyone on Twitter that doesn’t add value (feel free to un-follow me as well) and unsubscribing from everyone’s lists as well.
We’ll see if cutting out the many distractions helps me be more productive.
I’ll post updates here for anyone to follow.
The challenge starts now. I challenge myself to take action, I challenge you to do the same and as always I welcome your comments.
Best $20 I Have Ever Spent!
If you are into marketing and I don’t care if you do affiliate marketing, MLM marketing, sell your own products it doesn’t matter! You have GOT to sign up for Rick Butts’ Twitter Squeeze training…. The course is only $20 and so far he has given us way more than $20 worth… more like hundreds of dollars worth of insight into not only how to use the social sites to build credibility but underlying marketing methods and strategies that are so easy to implement and recreate. If you’re not signed up for Twitter Squeeze you are missing out on a huge opportunity.
Hey what’s $20? Just another drop in the bucket of what you’ve probably already spent in ebooks and courses.
Google Ranking Already!
The 27 phrases project is just starting and as of yet I’ve done VERY little promotion and already have 1 keyphrase at #13 in Google. Not quite front page but only 3 away. This particular phrase only gets 110 searches per month but hey, they are targeted people looking to buy.
Permalink Troubles Solved
The first problem I ran into on the “Blogging Funnel” Project was, of course, permalink structure. All things are good if you’re doing one blog but when you start installing multiple instances of Wordpress in different directories you start creating a headache of permalinking for “pretty urls”. I personally prefer a /%postname%/ structure for my permalinks, when setting up the “blogging funnel” I encountered 404 errors after updating the permalinks. Anyhoo, the answer was found on Exile Designs and the “Blogging Funnel Project” continues.
Another option is to just upload a blank .htaccess to your directory for each installation of Wordpress and set the file attributes to “writable”. Then when you go into your settings you can update your permalink structure Viola!
Day 3: Creating Content
We all know that “Content is King”. When creating content for your posts we need to think about the purpose of that content. Don’t just write for no reason, write with a purpose. Research before you begin is critical. Research what keywords to use and how much competition that keyword phrase has. There is a great post on John Cow’s blog about Social Marketing Content with a Purpose. Do your research, determine the purpose and then track your results.
First Keyword Phrase Monthly Searches 3600 Competition 213,000
Blogging Funnel Project
This project is just an idea I had for funneling blogs to one main “money blog”. This project will follow the time line of setting up this funnel and tracking the results.
Product Creation: Day 1
My first step in this project is to research all of the existing products in this “niche” that I own and determine what is missing. So today I’ll go through all of my “How to Wordpress” books and info products to see what I need to add to make it easily understandable and easy for the novice to do. Essentially just building a better mousetrap, not reinventing the wheel.
